Amit Shah termed signing historic; said honouring history

NEW DELHI, March 02, 2024: A tripartite agreement was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah between the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) in New Delhi on Saturday. During the ceremony, Shah stated that it was a historic day for Tripura and that through this agreement; they were looking towards the future while also honoring history, making amends, and accepting the realities of today.
He emphasised that while history cannot be changed, we can learn from past mistakes and move forward. He acknowledged the constructive role played by Tripra and all tribal parties in this direction.
The Union Home Minister further stated that the Tripura government has always made efforts towards development and that they are committed to contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India. He also mentioned that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Ministry of Home Affairs has made efforts to create an insurgency-free, dispute-free, and violence-free Northeast.
Amit Shah highlighted that due to several agreements made by the Modi government; around 10,000 militants have given up arms and joined the mainstream, leading to an environment of development. He also noted that the Bru-Reang agreement and other agreements have all started with Tripura and that this agreement is another step towards the development of the state.
He stated that the Modi government has worked towards ending the struggles of people by engaging in talks and reaching 11 different agreements related to borders, identity, language and culture.
With this agreement, Tripura has taken a step towards becoming a dispute-free state, and the government will work towards protecting the rights of all citizens. The pact includes the resolution of issues related to the history, land, political rights, economic development, identity, culture and language of the indigenous people of Tripura.
It also includes the formation of a Joint Working Group (or a Committee) to implement the agreed-upon points in a timely manner. In order to maintain conducive atmosphere for the implementation of the pact, all stakeholders have agreed to refrain from any form of protest or agitation starting from the day of the agreement's signing.
The agreement was signed by Pradyot Debbarma, Founder of TIPRA, and others. The Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr Manik Saha, ministers and several senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of Tripura were present during the signing of the agreement.
