Marwari Yuva Manch sets up Covid care unit

SHILLONG, May 20 2021: Marwari Yuva Manch, Shillong (MYM) in association with Marwari Samaj had decided to set up a Covid-19 Care Unit and Quarantine Centre for positive cases at Balika Vidyalaya School, Keating Road, Shillong. After detailed discussion with the state health department and the NHM, Meghalaya, with their encouragement and motivation, the proposal was taken up on fast track.
The work for setting up of the unit started on May 12 2021 and was duly completed on May 19 2021 and the same was handed over to department. The unit was inaugurated by AL Hek, Health and Family Welfare Minister of Meghalaya in the presence of Ram Kumar S, Mission Director, NHM, Meghalaya, Thursday.
This 32 bedded facility will be managed and governed by NHM, Meghalaya. The unit will treat patients with mild to moderate infection. Marwari Yuva Manch has undertaken setting up the infrastructure required for the Covid Care Unit and Quarantine Centre, they will also provide Food for the patients & Medical Staff on daily basis and will undertake any other non-medical work for running of the unit.
The unit was envisaged by MYM looking at the rising number of cases in the East Khasi Hills district and to support the State Governments efforts in controlling the pandemic. Marwari Yuva Manch, Shillong is a voluntary organization.
Its primary goal is to support young people in contributing to their community and country. During the second wave of the pandemic MYM has undertaken projects like distribution of facemask and delivery of freshly prepared food along with requested medicines to home isolated Covid-19 positive patients and their families.
MYM prays that the state and nation defeats the virus and come out stronger.
