REGIONAL, December 12, 2025: Filmmaker Kivini Shohe participated in the Indigenous Cinema: South Asian Perspectives event at NYU Abu Dhabi from December 8-10 organised by the Rights and Representation Research Forum.

The gathering aimed to explore South Asian cinematic traditions and featured screenings of diverse films from Northeast India, along with discussions on identity and Indigenous representation. Shohe presented her documentary Under the Longfuru Sky, reflecting on her filming experiences in Nagaland and the importance of cinema for preserving cultural memory.

Rashmi Sawhney from NYU Abu Dhabi highlighted the significance of Shohe's work in highlighting Nagaland's cultural diversity and nurturing dialogue among Indigenous communities across India and Southeast Asia.
