Junior Wimbledon champ Samir Banerjee has NE connection

GUWAHATI, July 12 2021: 17-year-old Indian-origin American Samir Banerjee who won the Boys’ Singles title in Wimbledon on Sunday, has Northeast India connection. 
Samir is the son of Kunal Banerjee, who is the youngest of the three sons of Late Hironmoy Banerjee who retired from OIL Duliajan (Assam) in 1985 -- he was the General Manager Production at the time of his retirement. Samir’s father Kunal Banerjee is an investment banker in Wall Street. They live in New Jersey.
Samir Banerjee won the boys' singles final against compatriot Victor Lilov 7-5,6-3 at the All England Club on Sunday and with this win the junior Wimbledon Championships saw an American winner for the first time in 6 years.
Samir is the first American junior champion at Wimbledon since Reilly Opelka in 2015. He started his professional tennis career as recently as last year. Samir is in his last year in school (12th standard).
