"Summit of Fire" focused on Hamas leaders abroad, Israel said

GLOBAL, September 09, 2025: Several explosions were heard in Doha, capital of the US’s strongest Arab ally Qatar, Tuesday. The Israeli military (IDF) confirmed it conducted airstrikes targeting Hamas leaders stating that these leaders have been responsible for managing the “war against Israel”.

An Israeli official noted that this operation codename "Summit of Fire" focused on Hamas leaders abroad particularly in Qatar, where many exiled leaders reside.

Israel's military chief Eyal Zamir stressed the intent to reach Hamas leadership outside of Israel.

In a statement White House said it was informed ahead of the attack and had passed the information on to Qatar. President Trump reportedly telephoned Israeli and Qatari leaders to work for peace in the region with respect to the war on Gaza.

Qatar said a member of its security forces was killed in the Israeli strike. Hamas confirmed five of its members died, but leaders survived.

Gulf and most of European countries condemned Israel for violating sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar. UN also voiced concern and lashed out at government of Israel.
