GLOBAL, October 06, 2025: Delegations from Hamas and Israel have gathered in Egypt Monday for negotiations with US President Donald Trump urging quick resolutions to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, which has persisted for nearly two years. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has supported the peace efforts initiated by the US President Trump.
The Hamas delegation is led by Khalil al-Hayya, who recently survived an assassination attempt in Qatar, where his son was among the victims of the attack.
Concurrently, Israeli military operations in Gaza have continued, leading to the deaths of at least 10 Palestinians, including those seeking aid.
The toll of Israel's military campaign has been devastating, with reports indicating at least 67,160 fatalities and 169,679 injuries in Gaza since October 2023, while thousands remain trapped under debris. In contrast, the violence that erupted on October 7, 2023, resulted in the deaths of 1,139 people in Israel and approximately 200 captives.
The ongoing violence raises urgent calls for effective mediation to cease hostilities and address the humanitarian crisis in the region.
