Hockey India is set to launch its centenary celebrations
 To celebrate the sport's rich history and support its development

NATIONAL, November 03, 2025: Hockey India is set to launch its centenary celebrations on November 7 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi commemorating 100 years of Indian hockey. This event, organised in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), marks the onset of various initiatives designed to celebrate the sport's rich history and support its future development.
Prominent figures including Olympians Zafar Iqbal, Jagbir Singh, Dilip Tirkey and World Cup champion Ashok Kumar were present when Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya officially announced the celebrations.
Significantly, this date also marks the founding anniversary of the Indian Hockey Federation established on November 7, 1925. As part of the centenary events, over 1000 hockey matches will take place simultaneously across 500 districts, engaging more than 36,000 players nationwide, highlighting the sport's extensive community reach and vibrant legacy.
