Handicraft Awards for famed master craftspersons
The President will give away the awards on December 9 in New Delhi

REGIONAL, December 05, 2025: The Ministry of Textiles will confer the Handicraft Awards on distinguished master craftspersons for the years 2023 and 2024 during a ceremony on December 9 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi as part of the National Handicrafts Week.
The ceremony will be graced by President Droupadi Murmu and important dignitaries.
Established in 1965, the National Handicrafts Awards recognise exceptional craftsmanship, while the Shilp Guru Awards initiated in 2002 honour artisans for their mastery and innovation.
National Handicrafts Week held annually from December 8 to 14 celebrates artisans and promotes the socio-economic significance of handicrafts through various activities. The handicrafts sector is vital to India's culture and economy, supporting livelihoods and contributing to export earnings.
The Ministry is pledged to support artisans through various initiatives, enhancing the legacy of India's traditional crafts.
