REGIONAL, March 19, 2024: The 3rd North East Games 2024 kicked off with a grand opening ceremony at the Game Village in Sovima and Chümoukedima in Nagaland, marking the start of a prestigious sporting event. The ceremony, hosted by the eloquent Imnsenla Racheal, began with a captivating performance by the Cantamus Choir, evoking a sense of unity and anticipation among the audience.
Abu Metha, Organising Secretary of NEG 2024 and Secretary General of Nagaland Olympic Association, warmly welcomed all attendees and emphasised the significance of the occasion. This sentiment was echoed by JOHN F Kharsing, Secretary General of NESA, who conveyed heartfelt greetings to the gathering.
In his address, Chief Minister and President of Nagaland Olympic Association, Neiphio Rio, imparted words of wisdom and encouragement, underscoring the importance of sportsmanship and unity in achieving success.
Kitenlo K Thono led the solemn oath-taking ceremony, emphasizing the commitment of participants to uphold the principles of fair play and integrity. The raising of flags representing NEG, NOS and YRS further highlighted the spirit of camaraderie and collaboration.
The ceremony concluded with a mesmerising performance of 'This is Nagaland' by TaFMA, encapsulating the essence of the region's rich cultural heritage.
