"Grame chalo Abhijan": Congress holds major campaign

AGARTALA, January 22 2021: The "Grame chalo Abhijan" campaign started from Tilabazar in Kailasahar Friday afternoon on the initiative of Unkoti District Congress demanding seven points including withdrawal of agriculture bill.
Congress workers started a protest procession from Tilabazar and held a public meeting at the market ground in Baburbazar area. A record number of party workers were present at public and protest rallies.
Unkoti District Congress President Md Badruzzaman, former MLA, General Secretary of the Provincial Congress Harekrishna Bhowmik, Congress leader Narsingh Das, Rudrendu Bhattacharya and many others were present in the procession and public meeting.
Speaking at the public meeting, Unkoti District Congress President Md Badruzzaman said that anti-farmer laws should be repealed, CAA and NRC laws should be repealed, all the properties of the Waqf Board should be returned to the Waqf Board and an English medium college should be set up in Kailashahar.
According to the Sachar Committee report, an ITI should be set up for technical education in religious minority areas, fallow land should be reclaimed and water irrigation should be provided through land leveling to double the income of farmers, and mother-in-law treatment of Congress-run panchayats should be stopped. The movement has started in Kailasahar.
