Agartala-Akhaura Railway, Maitri Setu to be operationalised: CM

Reiterated claim over return of BJP led government at the centre

AGARTALA, May 17, 2024: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Friday announced that the Maitri Setu (Friendship Bridge) and the Agartala-Akhaura Railway Link will soon be operational both connecting Bangladesh. He emphasised that the current government is working towards maintaining peace and tranquillity in the state, which is attracting a significant number of investors.

"The election is almost over, and a new government will soon be formed. Under the leadership of PM Modi, who has always emphasised the Act East Policy and provided us with the HIRA Model, the Maitri Setu will naturally become operational soon”, he said.

He added that the trial for the Agartala-Akhaura railway link has already been completed, and it will also start soon. I recently held a meeting with investors, and many are showing interest in Tripura.

Chief further said the future of Tripura looks promising. Once the rail connectivity is established, we will have easy access to Kolkata.
