NATIONAL, May 10, 2025: Opposition parties Saturday questioned the US-brokered ceasefire between India and Pakistan demanding that the government inform political parties and call a special session of Parliament to discuss the events of the past 18 days. The Bharatiya Janata Party credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing the "enemy on its knees".
However, hours after the ceasefire, firing from the Pakistani side was reported in the Akhnoor sector in Jammu and Kashmir, and drones were also seen in the Pir Panjal area. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh suggested that the prime minister should chair an all-party meeting to take political parties into confidence.
The BJP hailed the prime minister's leadership and the bravery of the armed forces following the announcement of the ceasefire. Congress leaders also shared photographs of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi with armed forces personnel, saying, "India misses Indira.”
