NATIONAL, July 25, 2025: The Election Commission (EC) has reported that 35 lakh electors in Bihar have either permanently migrated or cannot be traced since June 24. The first phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral roll ended Friday.
The state with an electorate of nearly 7.90 crore is set to go to the polls later this year. Booth-level officers and agents of political parties have reported the names of approximately 22 lakh deceased electors. Nearly seven lakh electors were registered in more than one location.
The EC said that enumeration forms of approximately 1.2 lakh electors were yet to be received back. The names of all 7.23 crore electors will be included in the draft electoral roll.
The digitisation of forms and BLO reports will be completed by August 1.
