ECI revises guidelines for design and printing of EVM Ballot Papers

To streamline election processes and improve voter convenience

NATIONAL, September 17, 2025: The Election Commission of India (ECI) Wednesday said it has revised guidelines for the design and printing of EVM Ballot Papers to improve clarity and readability. The revised guidelines align with 28 initiatives taken by the ECI in the past six months to streamline election processes and improve voter convenience.

The revised guidelines include printing candidates' photographs in colour, with their faces occupying three-fourths of the photo space for better visibility. Serial numbers will be printed in the international form of Indian numerals, with a 30 bold font size.

The names of all candidates will be printed in the same font type and size for easy readability. The updated EVM Ballot Papers will be used in upcoming elections starting with Bihar.
