District Magistrate Dr Shailesh Yadav also served a show cause notice to the Secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha.
He also imposed Section 144 under CrPC in and around the puja venue restricting movement of people. The district magistrate furthered ordered immersion of the goddess tonight itself.
Each year Bharat Ratna Sangha organises big budget puja. It’s spacious, decorative and classy pandal attracts huge crowd. The club this year was suppose to hold puja as a low key affair in view of coronavirus situation, but the government directives were ignored.
Taking cue of previous years the venue for past three days of Durga puja festival was witnessing a large crowd throughout night. The club even wanted to defer the immersion to pave people to visit at the puja pandal for another couple of days.
Amid criticism in social media and protests from citizens groups, the district administration finally swung into action.
