Dr AR Rahman graces closing of hornbill festival

KOHIMA, December 11, 2019: The closing ceremony of the Hornbill Festival 2019 was graced by Academy Award Winner and Indian Music Director, Dr AR Rahman along with Chief Minister Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio and a host of dignitaries at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on Tuesday.
Unity dance comprising of all the Naga Cultural troupes was performed to mark the end of the Hornbill celebration.
On the occasion, Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), Government of Nagaland signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KM Music Conservatory. A historic moment for music in Nagaland, through the MoU signed by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and Dr AR Rahman, KMMC will be the knowledge partner for TaFMA.
KMMC is the first institution of its kind in India established in 2008 by the AR Rahman Foundation. The state-of-the art Institute, situated at Chennai, offers a range of part-time and full-time courses in Hindustani and Western classical music and music technology.
Under the patronage of the founder, AR Rahman, the Institute offers programmes for all ages and abilities. The renowned faculty are drawn from around the world, with specialism in musical performance, musical theory and analysis, music history and music technology.
