CM speaks tough against attempts to return insurgency

REGIONAL, February 12, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Wednesday issued a stern warning against the resurgence of insurgency in the state promising strict action against anyone involved in such activities. He acknowledged the attempts by some individuals to bring back the militancy and highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and pursuing development.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while laying the foundation stone for five projects and inaugurating one project in Jirania, west Tripura district on Wednesday.
Dr Saha reflected on the chaos experienced during the communist era and asserted the state's progress, highlighting Tripura's positive standing in the North Eastern region. During the event, where he laid the foundation stone for five projects and inaugurated another, Dr Saha mentioned that these initiatives aim to enhance the state's infrastructure and developmental efforts particularly benefiting women’s socio-economic status.
The projects valued at Rs 40.58 crore, include multiple motor stands and transport offices. The Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his focus on developing the North East through the Act East Policy, noting the unprecedented scale of development in the region. He also stated that the current management of the Transport Department would be more effective compared to the past, which was marred by complaints and slogans instead of effective governance.
Dr Saha urged that the state should not regress to its turbulent past and highlighted the existing peace in Tripura. He called for unity among various stakeholders to uphold public rights and progress along the path outlined by Prime Minister Modi.
The event was attended by Minister Sushanta Chowdhury several top officials and community leaders.
