CM says committed to protect journalists, press freedom
Dr Saha urged journalists to write impartial and objective news

AGARTALA, November 16, 2024: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has vowed to protect journalists and uphold freedom of the press and media workers. He also urged journalists to write impartial and objective news for the benefit of the people.
Dr Saha made these remarks at the "Sharad Samman" programme organised by Headlines Tripura news channel Saturday evening. He highlighted the channel's resilience in the face of numerous challenges.
He stressed on the importance of the media's role in responsibly highlighting errors in every segments of society and governance, stating that it is their duty to do so impartially without unfairly maligning or preferential treatment. Dr Saha also acknowledged the evolution of media from print to electronic and web platforms, and the crucial responsibility of the media in bringing about societal change.
He mentioned that since taking office, he has taken immediate action on reports of attacks on journalists and assured that the law and order situation in Tripura is stable.
The event was also attended by Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Agartala City Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Headlines Tripura Editor Pranab Sarkar and scriptwriter of the movie Laapata Ladies Biplab Goswami.
