CM orders magisterial probe into lawyer’s death

AGARTALA, March 10, 2020: Conceding demands from various segments, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb Tuesday ordered a magisterial probe into accident death of a young advocate Bhaskar Debroy.  West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Sandeep Mahatme would lead the probe. 

Chief Minister announced the decision in a tweet where he also shared information of his visit to the house of deceased to console grieving family members.

30 year old Bhaskar Deb Roy was found unconscious after his motorbike faced an accident outside a school at Dhaleswar locality here after midnight Friday last. Fire service personnel rushed him to hospital where he died in the wee hours.  

There have been protests outside police headquarters, candle light vigil and finally a writ petition in the high court to condemn the incident and demand a high level probe. Opposition Congress and CPI(M) made politically charged statements.

The health department has also constituted a four member team to look into alleged negligence committed in the hospital.

Chief Minister also assured grieving family of all possible help if asked for.
