CM lauds PM to make India’s defence sector self-reliant

Highlighted significant increase in use of modern drone technology

AGARTALA, August 22, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha expressed his satisfaction with the self-reliance and advanced combat technology in India's military sector attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's continuous efforts. He highlighted the significant increase in the use of modern drone technology, particularly in war situations and combating terrorism.

Dr Saha made the statement during his attendance at the joint drone exercise of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles at the Assam Rifles ground here Friday. He underscored the importance of protecting the nation and state as demonstrated in a recent military operation in which terrorist camps in Pakistan were destroyed in just 25 minutes.

The Chief Minister highlighted the need for similar security measures in Tripura as same are being implemented in every state. He also commended the Assam Rifles for their tireless efforts in providing protection and security to the North East as a whole and Tripura in particular.

The programme involved drones capable of carrying explosive materials and firing weapons, demonstrating preparedness, protection and security.
