DHARMANAGAR (TRIPURA), June 09 2021: “State government will not allow illegal activity anywhere. People gave a mandate with much expectation that I should run a transparent government”, opined Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb Wednesday. He reiterated his earlier statement on acting tough against Syndicate Raj.
Deb spoke after visiting Churaibari check post on Assam border where he came across some irregularities in state’s tax offices. He also found out inadequacies of the local police station.
Chief Minister directed the administration to properly check functioning of the offices and posts that are meant to deal with interstate goods vehicles. He advised checking and making necessary entries digitally, and essentially use scanning machine to prevent movement of vehicles with drug substances.
He issued a stern warning that corrupt practices and laxity in assigned work, which are often reported, would not be tolerated. He also felt need to avoid unnecessary harassment of traders and drivers in the process of checking.
Chief Minister oversaw entry and exit of 96 goods trucks during his stay at Churaibari. He passed instruction on installation of CCTV cameras in the entire area.
