AGARTALA, September 21 2022: Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who led BJP to triumph in 2018 assembly elections is well set to start his new political innings. He is sure to get elected to Rajya Sabha in the lone seat from Tripura in the by-election to be held Thursday.
The BJP top brass had earlier appointed him party Prabhari for Haryana – one of important states in the Hindi heartland. He has marked his presence in the state organisation within a week of his appointment.
Deb said despite his pressing responsibilities as Prabhari and Rajya Sabha MP, his focus will remain in Tripura which will embrace assembly elections in February 2023. Majority of party leaders and cadres want him to give another big push in the upcoming elections and make the party victorious.
In Rajya Sabha he is expected to secure more than two third votes and will certainly defeat Bhanu Lal Saha of CPI(M). The seat was vacated following the resignation of Dr Manik Saha who was appointed as Chief Minister on May 15 last.
Biplab Kumar Deb is likely to resign from the state assembly after his expected election in Rajya Sabha by-poll and the assembly will be left with 58 members. The number will remain unchanged till constitution of next assembly.
