Artist creates sand sculpture to tribute to language martyrs

AGARTALA, February 24, 2020: Encouraged by the spectacular works of world famous sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik of Puri, an artist in Tripura made a sculpture with sand to pay tribute to the language martyrs.
Krishna Debnath has chosen India- Bangladesh Friendship Park at Chottakhola in Belonia subdivision of South Tripura, 125 km south of Agartala, to exhibit his excellent work on occasion of International Mother Language Day observed on Friday.
Debnath created likeness of the central language martyr monument at Dhaka which is commonly known as ‘Kendriya Shahid Minar’, some Bengali alphabets and images of struggle for mother language in sand carvings.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb lauded the creation made to pay homage to the language martyrs. In a tweet he said sculpture created by Krishna Debnath was drawing everyone’s attention.
India Bangladesh Friendship Park or Bharat Bangla Maitree Udyan is made on 20 hectares land to commemorate India’s support to war of liberation of Bangladesh in 1971.
