Ambitious insurance scheme for rubber plantation workers
Rubber Board sets age of applicants between 18 to 59 years old

NATIONAL, February 07, 2025: The Rubber Board is implementing an Insurance Scheme for the rubber plantation workers in the unorganized sector. The rubber tappers, tappers in the Tappers’ Groups, workers in the Group Processing Centres of the Rubber Producers’ Societies and the self-tapping growers owning rubber area up to one hectare and practicing self-tapping in a minimum of a hundred rain-guarded trees can join the scheme.
The applicants should be between 18 to 59 years old and they must have a work experience of minimum one year.
The beneficiaries of the scheme are eligible for Rs 1 lakh for normal death, Rs 5 lakh for death by accident/wild animal attack and Rs 2 lakh to 4 lakh for complete disability due to accident as insurance coverage.
Also the beneficiary will get an amount proportional to the total premium paid during the period from the insurance company, on maturity of the scheme. The minimum premium amount is Rs 300. The Rubber Board will remit Rs.900 per beneficiary as the Board’s share.
The last date to apply for the scheme is February 21 2025. Those interested may contact the nearest regional offices or labour welfare division at Rubber Board Head Office. Those who have already enrolled in the scheme (Phases II, III & IV) should pay the premium amount and renew their policy by February10.
