AG Arun Kanti Bhowmik passes away

AGARTALA, November 21 2020: Legal numerate and Tripura Advocate General Arun Kanti Bhowmik passed away at a private hospital in Kolkata Saturday morning. He was 80.
Bhowmik was shifted to Kolkata Friday after his condition deteriorated. His aides said the veteran was suffering from multiple ailments.
He was made the Advocate General in 2018 after BJP led coalition government assumed office.
Arun Kanti Bhowmik was also a skilled politician. He was elected to state assembly from Barjala constituency in Agartala as a nominee of the Janata Dal.
He later joined Congress and unsuccessfully contested from Kamalasagar assembly constituency. Before 2018 assembly polls he joined BJP and again fought from Kamalasagar, but lost.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb led numerous ministers, politicians, lawyers and social leaders to mourn his death.
Chief Minister offered floral tribute to Bhowmik at his residence after latter’s body was brought in from Kolkata.
