ADB to give 125m $ loan for climate resilience, livability
The project will provide continuous metered water supply

NATIONAL, September 22, 2025: Government of India and the Asian Development Bank have signed a 125 million dollar loan agreement to improve urban livability and climate resilience in six district headquarters and Guwahati in Assam. The project will provide continuous metered water supply and upgrade storm water management systems, strengthen urban governance through institutional reforms and build capacity.
Key infrastructure investments include six water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 72 million litres per day, 800 kilometers of distribution pipelines and a real-time monitoring system to maintain non-revenue water below 20%.
The project includes the establishment of the Assam State Institute for Urban Development.
