Aimed to promote safety practices among mining companies

NATIONAL, October 02, 2024: Hindustan Zinc Limited, India's largest zinc producer and the world's second-largest, recently concluded a 3-day Intra-Zonal Mine Rescue Competition at its Rajpura Dariba Complex. The competition aimed to promote safety practices among mining companies.
Organized by DGMS, the event saw ten teams participate in challenging drills, with Hindustan Zinc's Rampura Agucha Men’s team emerging as the winner. The competition included categories for both men's and women's teams, testing their skills in various emergency scenarios.
The closing ceremony, attended by DGMS officials, praised the participants’ dedication and urged Hindustan Zinc to establish dedicated mine rescue stations. The CEO of Hindustan Zinc Arun Misra reiterated the company's commitment to safety and showcased their cutting-edge technologies.
The company's efforts have resulted in India's first underground first-aid station and the first all-women mine rescue team, demonstrating their dedication to safety and gender inclusivity. Their success in international mine rescue competitions highlights their leadership in promoting safety and gender equality in the mining industry, ensuring a brighter future for the sector.
