12 paise rise of rupee to settle at 86.44 against US dollar

AGARTALA, March 19, 2025: The rupee rose for the fourth consecutive session closing at 86.44 against the US dollar. This was due to a positive trend in domestic equity markets and lower global crude oil prices.

However, a strengthening American currency against major overseas currencies ahead of the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision capped the sharp gain. The rupee opened at 86.60 and touched an intraday low of 86.68 against the greenback.

The domestic currency settled 25 paise higher at 86.56 against the US dollar witnessed earlier.
