State owned company starts sanitiser making in Bangladesh

DHAKA, March 22, 2020: A 82 year old pharmaceutical company, which is now owned by Bangladesh government as public sector enterprise, has come forward to help stem spread of deadly coronavirus.

Carew & Co has started the production of a hand sanitiser of its brand called ‘Carew’s Hand Sanitiser’. Officials said the sanitiser would be marketed from Monday, but to be distributed first in places marked as essential and emergency services and than in selected places for availability of general public.

There has been global shortage of hand sanitiser which helps contain the virus.  

Officials claimed ‘Carew’s Hand Sanitiser’ can destroy 99.99 percent of germs.

Retail price for each 100 ml sanitiser has been fixed at Tk 60 which Is Rs 53 in Indian currency.

Carew & Co was established in 1938.
