Lifetime Achievement Honour on Bishnu Kharghoria
REGIONAL: The Guwahati Asian Film Festival (GAFF) 2026 will honour veteran actor Bishnu Kharghoria with its Lifetime Achievement Honour, recognising his significant contributions to Indian cinema, particularly Assamese films. Festival Director Monita Bosgohain highlighted Kharghoria's profound impact on cinematic culture, stressing his integrity and emotional depth.
GAFF 2026 scheduled for January 22-25 at Jyoti Chitraban in Guwahati is organised by Trending Now Media with support from the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Bishnu Kharghoria's career began in 1974 with the film Bristi, and he is celebrated for his roles in landmark films such as Kollol, Firingoti, Xagoroloi Bohudoor and Pokhi. His work has garnered both national and international recognition, including a National Film Award for Best Special Mention in 1995 and a Best Actor Award at the Singapore International Film Festival in 1996.
The Lifetime Achievement Honour will serve as a tribute to Kharghoria's remarkable career and his lasting influence on the evolution of Indian cinema.
