Youth are driving force for the country's progress: CM

AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha highlighted the importance of youth as the driving force for the country's progress at the inauguration of the state-level National Youth Festival here Monday. He highlighted that a strong nation relies on a strong society and that the confidence and contributions of youth will shape the nation's future. 

The celebration of National Youth Day aims to instill national consciousness and patriotism among the youth while promoting the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. 

Dr Saha described Swamiji as a pioneer of awakening whose thoughts remain relevant today. He urged the youth to embody Swamiji's principles in their daily lives asserting that positive national change stems from properly directing youth energy. 

Emphasizing the need for comprehensive education that includes service to society, he stated that serving people is akin to serving God. Dr Saha cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives inspired by Vivekananda to empower youth and underscored the necessity for the youth to lead disciplined lives, engage in altruism, pursue genuine education and foster love for the nation, while also reflecting on Swamiji's vision for a healthy society.

The event was attended by notable figures including Sports Minister Tinku Roy and officials from the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.
