DRDO-developed weapons crucial during Operation Sindoor: Rajnath
NATIONAL: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Thursday underlined the crucial role of DRDO-developed weapons during Operation Sindoor highlighting the organisation's dedication to national security. Speaking at the DRDO Headquarters in New Delhi on its 68th Foundation Day, he praised DRDO for enhancing India's self-reliance by providing advanced technologies to the Armed Forces that significantly boosted soldier morale during the operation.
Singh expressed confidence in DRDO's role in developing the Sudarshan Chakra, an air defence system designed for vital installations, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscoring the necessity of air defence in contemporary warfare. He urged DRDO to adapt to the fast-changing technological landscape and to innovate, while also exploring opportunities for greater private sector involvement. '
During the visit, Union Minister received updates from Dr Samir V Kamat, DRDO Chairman, regarding ongoing R&D efforts, 2025 achievements and plans for 2026 including reforms aimed at enhancing organisational effectiveness. The event was attended by various senior officials and members of the defence sector.
