Event brought together beekeepers, harvesters and honey collectors

REGIONAL, April 28, 2025: The Department of Industries and Commerce, in collaboration with the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) and the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), organised a two-day Technology Clinic titled "Innovations in Bee-to-Bottle: Apiculture & Honey Harvesting Solutions" at the Multi Utility Center, NBHM, Chümoukedima.
The event brought together beekeepers, honey harvesters, honey collectors, entrepreneurs and MSMEs from across Nagaland to modernise its apiculture and honey value chain. The clinic covered topics such as bee biology, apiary site selection, pollination services, honey harvesting and marketing strategies.
In-depth discussions addressed key issues such as threats to beekeeping in Nagaland, the importance of adopting adaptive, climate-resilient practices, organic certification and building consumer trust in honey purity. Bee pollination, a crucial ecosystem service, was highlighted for its impact on biodiversity, food security, and farmer incomes.
The event also explored the industrial potential of by-products such as royal jelly and beeswax. The clinic underscored the RAMP program's mission to empower MSMEs through skill-building, technology adoption, and knowledge dissemination.
