VK Singh presents Governor’s Unit Citation to two AR battalions

In recognition of their outstanding service at the investiture ceremony

REGIONAL, February 07, 2025: Mizoram Governor retired General Dr Vijay Kumar Singh bestowed the Governor's Unit Citation to 2 Assam Rifles Battalion and 42 Assam Rifles Battalion of HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) in recognition of their outstanding service at the investiture ceremony held at Raj Bhavan lawn in Aizawl Friday.

Addressing all ranks and their families, the Governor congratulated both battalions for their achievement and commended them for executing their operational tasks with the utmost dedication. He further went on to say that they have in the true spirit lived up to their motto as 'Sentinels of the North East'.

They have served the people of Mizoram through focussed and people-centric activities, civic action programs, drug trafficking and other welfare activities.

The Governor also applauded both battalions for executing their role with tact during the current situation of crises and instability across the Indo-Myanmar border and maintaining the law and order and security situation in the state. He also appreciated the humanitarian assistance that has been extended to the internally displaced people.

Governor Singh was sanguine that in times to come the Assam Rifles would continue to further build upon the strong foundation established by 2AR and 42 AR at Aizawl and Serchip respectively.

The event was attended by Brigadier Girish Upadhyay, DIG, HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles, other ranks and families of Assam Rifles.
