Badminton tournament of the North East Regional Sports Week

IMPHAL, May 03 2022: Union minister for DoNER, Culture and Tourism G Kishan Reddy inaugurated Badminton tournament of the North East Regional Sports Week at DM College Campus in Imphal Tuesday.
North East Festival being celebrated across all the eight northeastern states is being organized by the Union DoNER ministry with the spirit of "Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahi from 2April 28 to May 4 2022
Reddy also reviewed various tourism projects at a meeting with officials of State and Central government, Loktak Development Authority and officials of various other departments at Sendra Park, in Moirang.
He also paid floral tributes to the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at the INA Museum Complex at Moirang in Bishnupur District.
G Kishan Reddy inaugurates interstate trucks terminus
Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region G Kishan Reddy virtually inaugurated the Inter State Truck Terminus at Sekmai from National Sports University Complex, Khuman Lampak, in the presence of Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh, Works/Youth Affairs and Sports Minister K Govindas Singh.
The Chief Minister along with the Union Minister also attended the Football Final Match of the sports week played between host team Manipur and Tripura at the Main Stadium, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.
The Union Minister Reddy said that the eight States of the NE region have brought medals in various sports disciplines including in boxing, badminton, football and archery. He said in the sporting world, the youth of the region have shown immense talents and brought many laurels for the country.
Manipur is today setting an example in the country, he said, adding that Manipur has till date produced several Olympians, medal winners.
We all know that the game of Polo known as Sagol Kangjei in Manipur was born in Manipur and that it is today played across the country, he continued.
This sports university will take a big responsibility in ensuring Olympic medals for the country and further bring name for the State and the country, he said adding that the university will take Manipur’s message across the world. He further sought support and cooperation from all in the construction of the university and afterwards.
He said the PM has worked with much dedication for the welfare and development of the NE region.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister along with the Union Minister and other officials also interacted with the students of the National Sports University and inspected the facilities of the university at its temporary campus.
It may be mentioned that the Inter State Truck Terminus was completed during 2021-22 and is the first and only truck terminus in the State. It is located 2.5 Km from NH-02 on Khurkhul Awang Sekmai Road with a campus area of 18.34 acres and was constructed under NEC funding to provide a formal transit point for the inbound and outbound trucks and goods carrier for the State.
