Tripura government to set up a women’s university in the state
Chief Minister graced the 64th Teachers’ Day 2025 celebration

AGARTALA, September 05, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha declared plans to establish a Women's University to empower women. He stressed on the importance of teachers as the foundation of the nation and underscored the need for mental, physical and emotional energy in the teaching profession.
Dr Saha was speaking at the observance of 64th Teachers’ Day 2025 here Friday.
“The state government has opened three new government colleges, waived fees for female students in government colleges and is working to set up a Women's University to empower girls”, he said. The government is also working to develop the state into an education hub by opening campuses in various universities and increasing seats in medical colleges.
Dr Saha also spoke on the need to reduce the DA and DR gap with the Central government, stating that the total DA and DR now stands at 32%. He said there would soon be announcement to benefit state’s employees.
To mark the occasion Chief minister handed over the Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar Samman to Dr Atul Debbarma, Eminent Educationist, Dr Shyamaprasad Mukharjee Samman to Samir Chakraborty, Eminent Social Worker and the Maharani Tulsibati Samman to Pranati Debbarma, Headmistress of DC Para Hemanta Smriti Vidyalaya.
