Tripura CM gifts 500 queen variety pineapples to Bangladesh PM

Pineapple packets were handed over to Bangladesh officials at ICP

AGARTALA, June 23, 2024: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Sunday sent 500 queen variety pineapples to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a seasonal fruit gift. The pineapples were sent through the Agartala- Akhaura Integrated Check Post (ICP) with representatives from the Indian Assistant High Commission in Chittagong, Bangladesh customs, BGB and Immigration, as well as two deputy directors from the Department of Parks and Soil Conservation under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare.

Officials from the Land Port Authority of India and BSF also attended. The pineapple packets and necessary documents were handed over by the Department of Parks and Soil Conservation of Bangladesh.

The average weight of one pineapple is 750 grams, as stated by Deepak Baidya, deputy director of the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of the Tripura government.

The friendly relationship between the two countries was also mentioned during a media briefing at the ICP.
