Tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram on his Remembrance Day

AGARTALA, May 17 2022: Rich tributes were paid to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarman on his Remembrance Day May 17. Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and immediate past Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb paid their respect to the visionary king.
Maharaja (Bubagra of indigenous people) Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarman who is attributed as the ‘Modern Architect of Tripura’ died at a very young age of 39 in 1947. His premature death hindered process of development in the erstwhile princely state.
He was the first ruler of the state to have visited England, Europe and America from 1931 to 1939.
His grandson Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Manikya and senior members of the royal family also paid tributes to Maharaja Bir Bikram.
Agartala airport, state’s own university and several institutions are named after the Maharaja.
