KOHIMA, March 28 2022: A three-day training program on ‘Mother Culture Maintenance, Mass production, and Storage of Bio-Fertilizer for Promotion of Organic Farming in North East India’, was held from March 24 to 26 2022 at Bio-Organic Quality Control Laboratory, District Soil Conservation office, Dimapur.
The training program was organized by the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Science, CAU (Imphal), Umian, Meghalaya and sponsored by the Director, Extension Division
The Resource persons, Dr Dwipendra Thakuria, Dr Juri Sandhya Barik, and Dr Sapu Changkija imparted training on the topic Acid Soils of Nagaland and its productivity challenges, bio-fertilizer as a component of organic soil management practice, Jhum cultivation, preparation of culture media, broth cultures for mass production of bio-fertilizer, extraction of Rhizobium from the soil and root nodules and their maintenance on YEMA plates, inoculation and incubation of broth culture.
In line with state organic policy, the state government is setting up two bio-fertilizer production units in two districts and another ten bio-fertilizers production units are coming up in all the old districts in this current year 2021-22.
It may be stated that three technologies have been transferred from Central Agriculture University, Imphal to the state government through the office of the Agriculture Production Commissioner, Nagaland. It includes two bio-enhancers and one bio-pesticide.
Altogether, 26 professionals from Agri and allied departments attended the training.
