NATIONAL, February 19, 2025: A five-member delegation from India including representatives from Nagaland visited New Zealand from February 12 to 15. The purpose of their visit was to support the New Zealand Embassy's strategy for developing the kiwifruit industry in India.
During their time in Auckland, the delegation held discussions with key stakeholders such as the Consul General of India, the India-New Zealand Business Council, scientists, Zespri International Ltd and Māori growers. They also had the opportunity to visit several kiwifruit orchards, export pack houses and nurseries to gain insight into best practices for cultivation, post-harvest management and export procedures.
Nagaland, the second-largest kiwifruit producing state in India, stands to benefit greatly from these international collaborations. The exchange of expertise and advanced techniques is expected to not only enhance kiwifruit cultivation, but also drive economic growth and improve the livelihoods of farmers.
