Three new cubs born in Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary
First ever birth of baby tigers since zoo established in 1972

AGARTALA, May 23, 2025: With the birth of three new cubs, the number of tigers in the designated zoo enclosure located in Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary near here has increased to five. This is the first ever birth of baby tigers in the sanctuary since its establishment in 1972.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has hailed the birth of the cubs and has asserted initiatives to attract more tourists to Tripura.
As part of the animal exchange process, a tiger couple was brought to the sanctuary from West Bengal last year. The tigress and her cubs are reported to be in good health, according to the Director of Sepahijala Biswajit Das.
It is worth noting that Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary has become a popular tourist destination with approximately 70 thousand visitors from different parts of India in the year 2024-25.
