Thinkers in Nepal lambast Pakistan as a terrorism promoter
Emphasised the spillover effects of a terrorist attack on India

GLOBAL, July 10, 2025: The Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE) held a seminar on "Terrorism in South Asia: Challenges to Regional Peace and Security" in Kathmandu. The seminar focused on the threat of Pakistan-based terrorism to regional peace in South Asia.
UN-designated terrorist organisations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed pose risks to India and potentially use Nepal as a transit point. Dr Minendra Rijal, former Defence Minister of Nepal, emphasised the spillover effects of a terrorist attack on India and the impact of Pakistan's promotion of terrorism on regional economic integration.
Chanda Chaudhary, former Member of Parliament and Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, highlighted the importance of curbing money laundering to prevent cross-border terrorism. Shisir Khanal, former Minister, appreciated India's response to Pakistan's in recently conflict, establishing a new threshold in regional counter-terrorism.
Dr Dinesh Bhattarai, former Diplomat and Advisor to Former Prime of Nepal, described the Pahalgam attack as the deadliest attack in recent years. Dr Purna Silwal, former Major General of the Nepal Army, asserted the need for intelligence sharing and joint border patrolling between India and Nepal.
