Project aimed to improve forest ecosystems, support income generation

REGIONAL, February 17, 2025: The Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) was awarded the prestigious SKOCH Award 2024 at the 100th SKOCH Summit in New Delhi. The project, implemented by the Department of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (DEFCC) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) aims to improve forest ecosystems, support income generation and improve livelihoods in targeted villages.
The project, which spans from 2017-2027, covers 185 villages in 11 districts and 22 forest ranges, covering an area of 79,096 hectares under Forest Intervention and forming 555 Self Help Groups under the livelihood component.
The SKOCH Award is one of India's highest independent civilian honors, known for its rigorous assessment process. The award was supported by CEO's Association for Inclusive India (CAII), a voluntary association for CEOs working for inclusive growth in India through social, digital, and financial inclusion initiatives.
