AGARTALA, December 15, 2025: The young children of Agartala participated in the 54th Vijay Diwas Celebrations that commemorated India's victory in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. The Indian Army organised a painting competition for students aiming to inspire the next generation with a blend of artistic expression and national pride.
The theme of the competition was "1971 Indo-Pak War: The Saga of Valour," and it took place at the Albert Ekka War Memorial. Around 400 children from 13 schools, aged 6–14, participated in four different age categories. The top three winners from each category received prizes.
A panel of judges from the fields of art and military evaluated the entries based on creativity and adherence to the theme. Vijay Diwas is observed annually on December 16th to honour India's victory in the 1971 War, which led to the liberation of Bangladesh.
This event aims to instil patriotism, artistic expression and historical awareness among the youth of Agartala. The competition not only fostered artistic talent but also motivated young minds to learn about India's rich military history.
The children's contributions will ensure that the sacrifices of our soldiers are never forgotten. "The Indian Army believes in nurturing creativity alongside values of discipline and patriotism," said an Army spokesperson.
