Senior Citizens exempted from curfew pass in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, May 13, 2020: Senior citizens will not be requiring obtaining pass for them or their vehicle in curfew bound Shillong and other places in Meghalaya. The state government has decided to exempt people aged 60 or above.
They however will have to carry valid identity card as a proof of their age.
Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya has informed this relaxation in view of several requests received from senior citizens who are facing difficulties faced by them in obtaining passes that they need for medical check-ups or other essential works.
He told Deputy Commissioners to issue orders exempting senior citizens who are above the age of 60 years from obtaining vehicle pass and curfew pass.
The senior citizen should carry their valid photo ID card along with them as proof of age while they travel.
