Security agencies directed to work against drug mafias, smuggling

Tripura CM claims drug destruction up 132%, seizures up 104%

AGARTALA, August 16, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has instructed police and security agencies to take strict action against drug trafficking. The amount of drugs destroyed and seized has increased significantly, he claimed.

He was speaking after inaugurating a voluntary blood donation camp organised by the Aurobindo Sangha at the AD Nagar Higher Secondary School grounds in Agartala Saturday. Chief Minister said Tripura is many steps ahead of other states in blood donation.

Aurobindo Sangha has organized various activities from August 1 to August 15 on the occasion of its foundation day and Independence Day. Drs Saha highlighted importance of blood donation as it brings a divine feeling and motivates others.

He also mentioned the problems related to drug menace in Tripura including addiction among boys and girls. The state government is continuing its fight against drug use with security agencies conducting operations against drugs with a zero-tolerance policy.

The amount of drugs destroyed and seizures increased by 104% compared to last year.

Chief Minister reminded that everything cannot be solved in a single day as it is not possible to undo the atmosphere created by the work and policies of the Communists and Congress over past decades.
