Royal families of Tripura, Telangana first to get cameras

NATIONAL, March 18, 2025: Governor Jishnu Debbarman said that the royal families of princely states of Tripura and Telangana were the first to purchase photo cameras in older days. He was speaking at the awards ceremony for the best photo journalists organised by the Telangana State Photo Journalists Association, an affiliate of the Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ), at the Suravaram Pratap Reddy Auditorium in Basheer Bagh, Hyderabad as the chief guest.

He said that a single photo is worth a thousand words. He made it clear that even though many news stories are published in newspapers, only photos attract the attention of readers.

Governor Debbarman said that photos are what a record in history remains.  He said that there is currently a discussion that the popularity of newspapers will decrease due to the influence of social media, but this is only temporary, and the future belongs to newspapers.

IJU Steering Committee member Devulapalli Amar, State Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, TUWJ State President K Virahath Ali, General Secretary K Ramnarayana, Photo journalists Association President, General Secretary Gangadhar, KN Hari and others participated in the programme.
