NATIONAL, August 30, 2025: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju has criticised trend to disrupt and ruckus within Parliament arguing that it harms Members who engage in such acts. He stressed that Members represent their constituencies and should be pressured to participate in debates and discussions instead of disrupting the House.
He was speaking on the subject ‘Parliamentary System in the Largest Democracy in the World’ at Karnataka High Court premises in Bengaluru Saturday.
Rijiju also urged younger Members to resist orders from their leaders to disrupt the House. He emphasised that political drama created to serve a narrative must end as Members indulging in such disruptions are accountable to their constituency.
He also reassured the majority government that disruptions will not affect the government's bills and Opposition parties will be at a loss if they do not debate such bills. Rijiju also highlighted the ongoing disruptions during the monsoon session, stating that the Opposition's leaders guided the disruptions.
