AGARTALA, June 21 2023: The union government has convened an all-party meeting which is attributed as an important ploy to restore peace in strife-torn Manipur. Home Minister Amit Shah would chair the meeting slated for June 24 at New Delhi.
Manipur has been on the bloodbath and turmoil since May 3 after first riot took place between Meitei and Kuki clans.
The announcement on all party meeting came from a MHA tweet which read ”Union Home Minister @AmitShah has convened an all-party meeting on 24th June at 3 PM in New Delhi to discuss the situation in Manipur," a home ministry spokesperson tweeted.
Some 120 people have died and over 3,000 injured in almost 50 days of violent tension. The visit of the home minister in Manipur earlier in the month and his stint for three days in the state did not ease tension.
