NATIONAL, January 02, 2025: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited DRDO Headquarters in New Delhi Thursday to mark the 67th Foundation Day. He commended DRDO for developing indigenous capabilities, equipping the Armed Forces with state-of-the-art technologies and bolstering the defense sector through collaboration with the private sector.
On 2025 being declared as the 'Year of Reforms', Singh urged DRDO to continue moving ahead in sync with the rapidly-evolving technological ecosystem and developing niche technologies. He also urged each lab to identify 2-3 critical projects to be completed by 2025 with 100 completed by the next foundation year.
Dr Rajnath Singh appreciated DRDO's efforts towards increasing collaboration with the private sector, including providing its technologies and free access to its patents. He urged the organization to identify more areas that can enhance the participation of the private sector and to explore the possibility of including start-ups in its R&D efforts.
He suggested that laboratories should raise awareness of the DRDO's work and motivate the youth to contribute to nation-building.
Dr Samir V Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defense R&D and Chair DRDO, briefed Raksha Mantri about ongoing R&D activities, achievements in 2024, initiatives promoting industry, start-ups, and academia and the roadmap for 2025.
